Family Shower

Last Sunday I had my third baby shower. Like the others, we had a good turnout of family and close family friends. The boys got some really good gifts. I am especially proud of the bouncy seats we received. I think the boys will enjoy them a lot! We got a ton of other gifts such as clothes, quilts, baby detergent (very useful, I am sure), and picture frames. With all of these gifts, the boys are already spoiled!

My First Mother's Day

I wasn't quite sure if this is my first Mother's Day or if next year will be. Either way, I have already been spoiled and the boys are not even here yet!! It will be hard to top this gift! But, I am sure that with their Daddy's help, they will be pretty creative and give me wonderful gifts every year :).

I woke up Mother's Day morning and Phillip brought me a card - from the boys & Charlie, of course. It was a cute little card that told me how good of a Mommy I was, and will be, and because of that, they had gotten me something. The card said to look on "our closet doors." Well, that started the scavenger hunt.

When I went into the nursery, there were 2 cute little outfits hanging on the doors with a note that said,

"Here are a couple of outfits we found that we thought we would like to get our picture taken in. We thought maybe Gran or Pops could take it with the new camera we got you. Don't worry, it didn't cost much. It is in your office."

So, I went to my office, where I found an underwater disposable camera, with a note that said,

"There is something else in Charlie's room that Goodmommy and Gooddaddy might put on us early the day of the picture."

I went to Charlie's room, which is the extra bathroom where he sleeps. In there, I found some sunscreen lotion for kids with another note. This note said,

"We are not done yet. There is a bag for you in the living room."

I went to the living room where a blue and green beach bag was waiting, filled with a couple of beach towels. Of course, there was another note. It said,

"Still going. Go look on the refrigerator to see where we want our picture taken."

When I got to the refrigerator, there was a note that said,
"This is where we want to go."

The note was attached to a picture of our hotel in Destin, FL!!! Along with the calendar that was open to September.

So, as long as everything goes well, and my and the boys' doctor says it's okay, we, along with both sets of grandparents, will be headed for Destin in early September! The boys were very thoughtful in inviting the grandparents because I cannot imagine the trip alone :).

And for some of you wondering if we are actually going to take the boys out to the beach, yes, we plan to. But, only after the sun has gone down, or is going down. I know that their skin won't be ready for the beach bum stuff just yet. As much as we love basking in the sun, we always love to go out when the sun is setting. It makes for really good pictures! Plus, it is just beautiful to look at. That doesn't mean, however, that Phillip and I won't go out for some sun if we get the chance :).

Now, I have the challenge of coming up with a Father's Day gift!

The Nursery - A Start

I have been asked about our nursery by a few people and FINALLY have a couple of pictures to share. Right now, we have our furniture (2 cribs and a changing table) in the room - and it takes up most of it! We got the cribs that will make into toddler beds, daybeds, and full-size beds, so they are a little bit larger than a regular crib. I put the bedding on one of the cribs this morning. We are still working on getting things organized and figuring out what we are going to put on the walls, but I think we almost have it figured out. As soon as we do and get it up, I promise to post more pictures.

For now, this is what I have that is picture-worthy:

As you can see in the picture, we are decorating with airplanes. We did not go with airplanes for any particular reason other than the fact that I could never find the "perfect" bedding that I was looking for and this one was at the right place at the right time. One day, when we were at BabiesRUs, I saw this bedding and the colors were exactly what I was looking for (and I really thought the bedding was cute), so I decided to get it. I want to incorporate some of Phillip's old wooden toys into the room as well, but I have yet to figure out where to do that because the room is pretty full as it is. Hopefully I can share more pictures soon.

Shower at the Co-op

Yesterday I had my second Baby Shower. It was alot of fun as well. I feel like it is Christmastime! We got so many good gifts - lots of diapers and wipes!!! We are going to need them with 2 little bottoms :). We also got alot of other good stuff. I really appreciate all of the gifts everyone has given us! I also got to visit with people that I don't see very often, which is always nice to be able to catch up a bit. Below is a picture of the adorable cake!

Our First Baby

Many of you know that Phillip and I already have one "baby." His name is Charlie. We are not really sure how he is going to take having two babies in the house, but we are confident that he will be a good boy. He will probably be a little scared at first when they cry (he is a little scaredy-cat), and will feel a little neglected. But we think he will quickly warm up to them and love them like we do. We can't wait until the boys are old enough to play with Charlie - I think they will be good friends and it will be fun to watch them play.

The reason for this post was to (1) not leave out Charlie in this experience, and (2) show off a cute picture we got of him last Sunday morning. He LOVES to sit in the recliner - in fact, he has pretty much taken it over. But he is really good about getting out of it when we want to sit it in. Anyway, I got a picture of him and wanted to share it. I hope you enjoy it.

30 Week Checkup

These visits are pretty routine these days. I get to see how much weight I've gained, find out my blood pressure, hear the boys' heart beating (the best part), get my belly measured, and ask the doctor any questions I may have.

He was happy that we have made it to the 30 week mark. Now we are aiming for 35 weeks - I am personally aiming for 36 or 37. Either way, I am confident our boys will be okay. We are getting more and more excited to meet them, but we know they need to stay where they are a little while longer. Besides, I need the extra time to get everything ready for them! Although I am sure that I will be saying that even once they are here.

I am still feeling okay for the most part. I am starting to get uncomfortable now, but I guess that is to be expected because I am about the size of someone almost full term with one baby. However, it is all worth it, so I am trying not to complain too much - although Phillip might tell you differently :).

Church Shower - May 7, 2006

Last Sunday was my very first Baby Shower. We had a good turn out and it was a blast to receive gifts for the boys. We got all kinds of things like clothing, diapers, booster seats, and even tricycles (from Phillip's Dad). It was a very fun time. I can't wait for the boys to get here so we can use all of these things!

Here are some pictures of me, Angie, and Whitney (the hostesses), and the cake:

28 Week Checkup

There was nothing really major about this doctor's appointment other than it marked the first time that I started going every 2 weeks. This pregnancy has really flown by! At this point, the doctor says that I am measuring at 36 weeks (if I were to be carrying 1 baby). Therefore, according to him, every symptom is exaggerated because I would usually be almost done by now. I am a little scared about how I am going to feel when I really am 36 weeks (I am being optimistic that I will make it there :)) because I am feeling pretty pregnant right now!

So far, everything is still going good. The fatigue is starting to set in again, but I am viewing it as a friendly (and sometimes not so friendly) reminder that I need to rest often so that these boys can get as strong as possible before they join us. If they will stay put for about 8 more weeks, we will be doing good!

I have some showers coming up, so I'll be posting some pictures soon. Also, we have our cribs put together (they take up the whole room!) and are finishing up on the nursery. I'll soon post pictures of that as well.
