Our Little Miracles

This blog is about our two little miracles, Hayden & Carson. They were born on June 19, 2006, at 1:49 and 1:51 AM. Hayden weighed in at 6 pounds and 2 ounces, while Carson weighed in at 4 pounds, 13 ounces. Keep checking back to watch us grow!

26 Week Check-Up

I am a little behind in posting about this doctor's appointment. It was pretty much the same as the others except for a couple of things.

First, we got to do an ultrasound, just to see how the boys are growing and to make sure one is not falling behind the other. It appears that they are both still right on track and are gaining weight rather well. They estimated that one weighs about 2 pounds & 3 ounces and the other weighs about 2 pounds & 4 ounces. Now, I have about 5 pounds of baby that I am carrying around! The doctor said that we couldn't expect anything better. Of course, they were very active again during the ultrasound, which could have been partially a result of all the sugar I had beforehand. Which leads into the second thing, but I'll talk about that in a minute. We got a couple of pictures, but they are not as easy to make out as the 3D/4D pictures from a couple of weeks ago. However, they are still pictures of my boys and so I wanted to share them. This time, however, there will be a name associated with the picture (finally).

Here is Hayden...

And
Here is Carson...

The second difference this time was that I had to do the 1 hour glucose-tolerance test, which was not real tasty. You have to drink this orange soda type concoction and then they take your blood an hour later (this is where all of the sugar came from). If your sugar is too high, then you have to do it again, except drink double the amount and have your blood taken every hour for 3 hours. Well, mine came back too high and I had to do the 3-hour test. Thankfully, that bloodwork came back normal. However, it has made me even less fond of orange flavors.

My next doctor's appointment is tomorrow - at 28 weeks. At this point, if the boys will stay put for 8 or 9 more weeks, we will all be so happy!! I think they are starting to get a little cramped by the types of movements I feel, but that is not stopping them from being active. For the past few days, it seems they are almost constantly moving throughout the day (they are generally active in the daytime anyway). But contrary to what I hear from most people, I think they rest at night, or else I am sleeping through it all :). I can only hope that they want to sleep at night, but I am not holding my breath :).

Seeing Our Boys in 3D/4D

We went yesterday for the 3D/4D ultrasound. We were warned that we may not get any good images because with twins, it is very difficult to see with all the arms and legs moving around in there :). The boys were really active, and we did have to work at it. But, we were lucky and got some really good pictures. The top 2 pictures are of Baby A, and the bottom 2 are of Baby B (sorry, we don't know who is who yet). Of course, we think they are adorable!

This was not a regular doctor's appointment, so we didn't do anything to actually see how well the babies are doing. However, the lady doing the ultrasound did measure the boys. One weighs 1 pound, 13 ounces, and the other weighs 1 pound, 14 ounces. So, in all, I am carrying around almost 4 pounds of baby! She said that they were a little bit ahead, but that they may even out later. I am just glad that they appear healthy!

Seeing them in 3D/4D makes us even more anxious to see them in person! Only about 3 months to go!
